Tonight saw the LGBT+ hustings for the Greater Manchester Mayoral election that has been caused by Andy Burnham becoming an MP (and as of yesterday, Prime Minister).
While there are six parties and one Independent on the ballot, we note that only the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Green candidates cared to attend the event on Canal Street.
Although someone from the group had submitted a question about bi engagement - given the largest borough in the ten that make up Greater Manchester until recently had the non-existence of bisexuality as a matter of policy - it was sadly not taken and put to the candidates.
Unlike most elections you get to express up to 2 preferences - marking your first choice and second choice of candidate on the ballot.
Polling day is 30 July, and if you do not have suitable photo ID to be able to cast your vote you need to apply by tomorrow, 5pm, Wednesday, 22 July 2026 to get a free government ID to use. You can apply for one here.
